This 11 inch tall bisque head baby, circa the early 20th century, was manufactured by the German firm of Simon Halbig. He has a deeply modeled character face with blue glass sleep eyes and an open/closed mouth. The little guy has his original blonde mohair wig and the original finish bent limb baby body. He wears a blue two piece wool knitted outfit. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs except for a small quarter moon shaped piece that has broken off the neck socket and been glued in place. I believe this occurred when someone was a little too aggressive in checking the bisque neck socket and pulled the head up too hard and too quickly. The spot is completely hidden in the neck socket opening of the composition body. You would never know it was there unless you "gently" pull the head up at the socket to look. The back of the head is incised "1428//4." This little doll always makes me laugh with his tiny eyes, big ears, and asymmetrical grin.
