This 19 ½ inch tall doll, circa the 1850s-60s, has a 4 ½ inch papier mache head, a leather body, and wooden lower arms and legs. The papier mache head has molded and painted hair and facial features. There is some wear to the finish and a few age cracks but no repaint or repair except to two lower corners of the shoulder plate. The leather body is in good sturdy condition with one small repair to the left leather upper arm. The wood limbs are in very good condition with flat bottom painted blue painted shoes. The doll is dressed in a white cotton petticoat and a newer but quite appropriate white cotton print voile dress with lace and black velvet ribbon trim.
