This pair of 11 ½ inch tall composition dolls was created by Effanbee and then dressed by Marie Polack in 1936. The dolls are in excellent original condition with very minor crazing to the composition. The dolls have cloth torsos with composition heads, shoulder plates, arms, and legs. They are jointed at the shoulders and hips. The little girl has molded feet and the boy has black composition molded shoes. Both dolls have mohair wigs and the boy has a most hysterical little mohair beard. I love the Effanbee Grumpy mold and these clothes are just perfect to complement the mood. The clothing is completely original and fabulous. The dolls are so original that the little guy retains the original green hang tag indicating "Dutch Dolls" and `brethren. Both dolls are marked in raised lettering on the back of the shoulder plates. The little black squiggles that appear in the photograph of the markings are just fluff from the little guy's coat and are not crazing or damage to the composition. What a rare pair of dolls in such pristine condition. I have never seen these two dolls in person before and couldn't believe my luck when I found them.
