Size: 12 ½ inches tall
Marks: Black Ink signed on the back of the shoulder plate states, “Edna Daly//1983” plus a fimo hangtag stating, “One of a kind handmade doll//by//Edna Daly//1983.”
Description: This doll has a fimo hand sculpted shoulder head, lower arms, and lower legs, with a stiff unjointed cotton cloth body. She has a closed mouth, molded facial features including ears, and set blue glass eyes. The wig, in original set, is braided and created from blonde mohair. The original dress is created from ecru lace with a silk lining and pantaloons. The doll also wears handmade leather one strap shoes. According to an online description of her dolls, “most of her characters are shy, introverted and do not gaze directly at the viewer.” While the doll artist, a native of Israel, identifies herself as “Edna Dali” many of her early dolls are signed as “Edna Daly.”
Condition: This doll is in excellent all original condition. The silk lining of the dress shows some age wear and is somewhat delicate with some melting of the fabric. The fimo is slightly mottled in color and typical of her older dolls. I actually like this feature as it makes the skin appear more lifelike.
