This 25 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, was manufactured by the Sterling Doll Company. He has a 6 inch composition flange neck head and a velveteen cloth body. The composition head is painted with side glancing eyes and an open/closed mouth with prominent painted teeth. He has painted hair, molded ears, dimples, and a predominate smile. The clean stuffed body has a ruby red shirt with brass buttons and dark blue pants with black shoes. I believe he depicts a bell hop from the early 20th century. The head shows some minimal crazing and is marked, at the lower back neck, “STERLING //DOLL CO INC.” The velveteen body is in good clean condition. This guy is typical for the era and represents a character figure from the early 20th century.
