This 20 inch tall doll, circa the late 19th century, has an ecru cotton cloth body jointed at the shoulders and hips. The head, lower arms and lower legs have been covered with black stockinet. The head has embroidered facial features and black jet bead eyes. The hair is created from black curly yarn fabric. The dress and underclothing have been sewn onto the doll so I did not want to disturb the originality by removing them. The doll wears an ecru cotton petticoat and a red cotton print dress. The lady is in good clean sturdy condition with some holes and wears to the black stockinet. To me, this wear just adds character and reflects how the doll has been loved by her previous owners. She is quite an appealing example of a much loved cloth doll of the past.
