This 17 inch tall doll has a 4 ¼ inch tall bald china head, circa the 1860s, manufactured in Germany by Alt, Beck & Gottschalck. The china head has painted facial features with molded ears and a black spot on the top of the head. It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The brunette human hair wig appears to be original to the doll. These wigged and bald head dolls are often called Biedermeier chinas. Miss ABG has a newer but appropriate cloth body jointed at the hips and knees with china lower arms. She wears an antique cotton dress and petticoat. The shoes and socks are later replacements. I am particularly fond of this ABG mold as the doll has an almost Mona Lisa type smile.
