This 16 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, has a bisque socket head and a composition ball jointed body. The doll head was manufactured, in Germany, by Simon & Halbig and the doll was distributed by Kammer & Reinhart. The character dolls were fashioned after the children of the owners of the German Kammer 7 Reinhart firm. This doll bisque head, with the mold number 114 and called Gretchen, is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are a few black specks on the nose that would have occurred when the doll was originally fired. She is incised, on the back of the head, K*R//114//43.” The composition body retains the original finish. Gretchen has a blonde human hair wig. She wears antique white cotton clothing including a dress with lace, eyelet, and pin tuck decoration. She wears antique leather shoes. This doll is priced well below the current value as I want her to go to a home that will love and appreciate her.
