This 12 inch tall doll, circa the third quarter of the 19th century, was manufactured in Germany. Wearing her original costume, she is in fabulous unplayed with condition. The wax over papier mache shoulder head doll has an unusual molded bonnet decorated with trim and a feather plume. She also has her original blonde mohair wig in original curly tendril style. The facial features include a closed mouth and black glass pupilless eyes. The wax coating on the head is in excellent condition. The doll’s body is cloth with lower wooden arms and legs that end in pink flat bottom painted boots. I certainly did not attempt to remove the clothing as it is sewn onto the doll and has never been removed. I am sure that the new owner will have respect for the absolute originality of this doll and leave her in this pristine condition without undressing the doll. The underclothing is cotton with lace trim and the red dress with black polka dots is decorated with fluffy black trim. For those who love the early and unusual, this is a treasure.
