This 26 inch tall doll has a 6 ½ inch tall china shoulder head, circa the 1850s, created in Germany by Kestner & Company. The head has a black painted covered wagon hairstyle with the rarer brown eyes. The head is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is an inherent factory mold separation at the seam on top of the head and on the left side at the neck. These are not later damage but just a result of the original firing process. The doll has a sturdy clean older cloth body with lower leather arms that are worn. Miss Kestner wears a two piece cotton print dress with antique white cotton underclothing and old brown leather shoes. She has a fabulously hand quilted petticoat that deserves to be a focal point of the costume. It is created with tiny quilting stitches and required an expert quilter to be able to produce such a work of art.
