This set of ten all bisque dolls, circa the 1920s-1930s, were manufactured in Japan. They are in the original cardboard box that measures 10 X 2 ¾ inches and is stamped, “Japan” on the bottom. Each doll is approximately 2 ½ inches tall and is incised “Japan” on the back. The dolls are in good condition and exhibit the typical bisque of the Japanese dolls of this period. The boy and girl pairs have painted costumes that represent an Asian, Dutch, Native American, cowboy, and child couple. It is difficult to find these complete sets especially with the original box. This one came from an old collection and so has been carefully preserved through the years.
