This pair of all bisque dolls, circa the early 20th century, was created in Germany for Borgfedt. The plump little character pair wears molded clothing. The girl is 4 ¼ inches tall while the boy is 4 inches tall. They have molded facial features with googly type eyes, open/closed mouths with tiny painted teeth. They are jointed at the shoulders. Both the boy and girl are stamped, with a “C” in a circle. The girl also has an incised “C” on the back of her left leg. They are in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. I just love these little comic characters. They make me laugh and I enjoy their outrageous hairstyles and round little bodies. Every all bisque doll collection should have at least one set of these pudgy happy children.
