This 20 inch tall doll, circa the mid 19th century, is created from cotton cloth and jointed at the shoulders and hips. He has a center seam face allowing for great facial profile modeling of his chin, nose, and forehead. He also has embroidered eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. The hair is created by a lower of brown fabric. The doll wears a black velveteen hat and a brown two piece suit. I do believe the costume is original to the doll. The black knit stockings show numerous holes. He also wears crochet shoes. Obviously there is discoloration and wear to this doll and his clothing. I believe my photos show this. He does appear to be quite original and, I think wonderful, just as he is. I hope the future owner will appreciate how he has survived and been loved and preserve his great originality and historical authenticity.
