This 11 ½ inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, is just so charming because of her home made simplicity. Her head and arms are created from ecru color cotton fabric. Her body, which is basically an oblong cotton stuffed shape with no legs, is created from an early cotton print fabric with flowers. The face has hand drawn facial features and red yarn hair. She wears a red cotton dress with a black satin color. The doll is in good clean played with condition. The red dress is somewhat faded. The coloring almost looks like a choir robe and I wonder if this is actually a church doll. Church dolls were created for children to quietly play with during a long Sunday service sermon. In any case, I found her charming, sweet, and cuddly. I couldn’t put her down once I had her in my hands.
