This 21 inch tall doll, circa the 1880s, has a bisque socket head with wood and composition ball jointed straight wrist body. She has a closed mouth with a white space between the lips, brown glass sleep eyes, a brunette human hair wig, and her original plaster pate. I particularly like the winsome quality of this doll’s face as she has an expression much more distinctive many of the closed mouth Kestners. Her individual eye cuts are quite unique and add such character. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs and the back is incised with the number 14. The body is also in great condition with no repaint. The tip of the left thumb is chipped. Miss Kestner wears white cotton lace trimmed underclothing, antique shoes and socks, and a fabulous antique red dress adorned with ribbon and lace.
