This 14 inch tall doll, circa the 1880s-1890s, was manufactured in Germany by Kestner. She has a bisque socket head with a closed mouth and her original ball jointed straight wrist composition body. The bisque head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The doll has blue glass set eyes, her original plaster pate, and brunette mohair wig. The back of the head is incised with the size number 7. The body is in good condition with the original finish except for the lower arms that have been repainted. There does not seem to be any damage to the lower arms so I have no idea why someone would think it necessary to repaint them. This stupidity could most likely be reversed or left as is since the paint color is quite mild and does match the original body finish. I will leave that to the new owner. Miss Kestner wears antique cotton underclothing and sweet antique cotton dress with lace insertion. I love these early round face closed mouth Kestners. They always have such beautiful bisque and a sweet presence.
