This 13 ¾ inch tall doll, circa the 1890s, has a 3 ¼ inch tall china head manufactured in Germany by the Kling & Company Porcelain Factory. The head, with molded and painted black hair, has some rubs to the curls. The nose also has minor roughness with some possible touch up to the tip. The back of the shoulder plate is incised, “Germany/189” and the Kling Bell symbol. The doll has an old cloth body with china lower arms and legs. The legs end in brown heeled boots. The body is sturdy with some old repairs to the cloth. Miss Kling wears white cotton lace trimmed underclothing with a two piece dress created from black velveteen with metallic trim and a skirt with a paisley silk scarf overlay.
