This 25 inch tall bisque head baby, circa the early 1900s, was sold by Kammer & Reinhardt. The head was manufactured in Germany by Simon & Halbig. This character baby is often called the Mein Liebling Baby (My Darling Baby). He has a bent limb composition baby body with a bisque socket head. The head has an open mouth with two upper teeth and a tongue. The sleep eyes are blue glass. He also has a fabulous and rare original skin wig. The back of the head is incised, “K*R//Simon & Halbig//126//62.” The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small dark spot on the chin. The bent limb five piece composition body retains its original finish. The sweet, almost life size baby boy, wears a more contemporary red knit shirt and plaid cotton bib overalls. He could also be dressed in a christening gown but I thought he looked like a real little baby boy with more masculine attire.
