This 16 ½ inch tall doll, circa the 1860s, has a 4 ¼ inch tall china shoulder head manufactured by the German firm of Alt, Beck & Gottschalck. The antique cloth body, with leather lower arms and china lower legs, is sturdy but shows some patching to the fabric. The legs end in black heeled boots and the right leg has been broken and repaired. Personally, I would rather have an antique body with some repair rather than a more contemporary body. The head has a flat top hairstyle with some very minor black paint wear to the curl at the back of the head. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs to the china with minor roughness around the lower edge of the shoulder plate. I always love this mold as the lady has a shy Mona Lisa type smile that adds to her appeal.
