This 10 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, has a 3 ¼ inch tall shoulder head. The doll was manufactured by the German firm of Gebruder Heubach and is in original condition with a cloth body and papier mache lower arms and legs. The cloth body is jointed at the shoulders and hips. He has an open/closed mouth with molded and painted tongue and two lower teeth. He also has two blue painted side glancing intaglio eyes and a solid dome head with molded and painted hair. The back of the head is incised, “0//Germany.” There is an indistinguishable number mark on the lower edge of the back bisque shoulder plate. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The body is also in excellent condition. The white cotton lace trimmed costume also appears to be factory original.
