This 17 inch doll, circa the mid to late 19th century, is a great example of a cloth folk art one of a kind doll. I purchased this doll at an antique show in Paris and was particularly drawn to the fabulous early fabrics used in her construction. On head is created from ivory stockinette and the other head is brown silk. Both dolls have needle sculpted facial features with hand embroidery and button eyes. Both have yarn hair. One doll has a heavy cotton flower print dress while the other sports a cotton sateen striped fabric dress. The doll is in good clean condition with some age discoloration to the clothing and on the ivory face. What a fabulous Parisian character doll!
