Joan & Lynette Antique Dolls and Accessories
Lynette Gross or Joan Farrell, Carmel or Indianapolis, IN
This 7 inch tall Kewpie doll, circa the early 20th century, is a talcum powder dispenser. She is either papier mache or composition and is jointed at the shoulders. The doll has side glancing painted eyes and a gold color metal shaker on the back of the head. Kewpie also has the original heart shaped paper label on her chest, another larger label on the bottom of her feet, and a third on her back indicating a 1913 copyright by Rose O’Neill. I have photographed both of these. The doll is in very good condition with no repaint. She does have an old age crack on her back that is also photographed. I love these little blue winged sprites created by Rose O’Neill and the talcum dispenser is a rare version of dolls.
