This 18 inch tall doll, circa 1939, was manufactured by The Alexander Doll Company. She is composition and jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips. The doll retains her original human hair wig. She has sleep eyes, a character face representing skating star, Sonja Henie, and an open mouth with upper teeth. The doll wears a pink tulle and silver metallic skating costume with ice skates. There is no tag on the clothing but it is commercially made. I do not know if it is the original Madame Alexander costume or not. Sonja is in good condition with the typical crazing to the composition. There is no repaint or repair. She is missing some of her eyelashes and there is a missing piece of composition on the right side of her neck. This is mostly covered by her head as the spot fits into the head opening. I believe my photos show this area. I have always liked this particular celebrity doll of the famous ice skater.
