This 16 inch tall doll, circa the second half of the 19th century, was made of black sateen cotton cloth fabric. She has embroidered facial features, a needle sculpted nose, and black wool yarn hair. The doll is jointed at the shoulders and hips. She wears an antique red and white plaid cotton dress. The doll is in good sturdy clean condition with one tear on the inner part of her upper left arm. Her dress is also in good condition except for fabric tears under both arms. I love the expression on this doll’s face as she certainly has attitude. She is a great example of an early folk art doll.
