This 8 ½ inch tall head, circa the early 1860s, was manufactured by the German firm of Kestner & Company. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a slight roughness on the tip of the nose. The head a molded and painted facial features including blue painted eyes and a black flat top hairstyle. The shoulder plate measures 7 ½ inches from shoulder to shoulder and 4 ½ inches from front to back. This head would make a magnificent doll in a grand size but could also be displayed as a shelf piece just as she is.
