This 117n mold, often called the open mouth Mein Liebling, was sold by the German firm of Kammer & Reinhardt in the early 20th century. The bisque head was manufactured by Simon & Halbig. The 17 inch tall doll has a bisque socket head and a ball jointed composition body. The head has an open mouth with upper teeth and blue glass sleep eyes. It is incised, on the back of the head, “K*R//Simon & Halbig//117n.” The head is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The human hair wig may be original to the doll. The composition body is also most likely original. It does have some wear and repaint to the finish. There is some roughness on the fingers and several have been repaired. The doll wears an antique white dress with antique white cotton underclothing. She also has a crocheted wool sweater and antique shoes and socks. This doll has an especially sweet face with large eye cuts and an open mouth that gives her an innocent, almost surprised, expression.
