This 7 inch tall doll, circa the late 19th century, was manufactured by the German firm of J.D. Kestner. The doll is all bisque with a stiff neck and jointed at the shoulders and hips. She has brown set glass eyes, an open mouth with teeth, and retains her original blonde mohair wig with plaster pate. Her legs end in molded and painted pink socks and black painted shoes with heels and one strap. Miss Kestner is incised, on the back of the neck, with mold number 150. She is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. She wears white cotton lace trimmed underclothing and a handmade vintage silk dress decorated with ribbon. I love these pudgy little German girls that were made by Kestner, the “King of Dollmakers.”
