This 14 ½ inch tall doll, circa the 1860s, is in wonderful original condition. She has a wax over composition shoulder head, a cloth body, and composition lower arms and legs. The legs end in molded and painted black heeled boots with a pink tassel. The doll has black glass pupilless eyes and a closed mouth. She has both molded hair and a blonde mohair wig. This is so unusual. The back of the head, with the blonde molded hair, is covered with a net snood. The doll wears her original white lace trimmed underclothing and a fabulous silk lace trimmed dress. There is some melting to the silk. The dress is stable but certainly should not be removed from the doll as it would damage the silk and disturb the superb originality. I just love this doll due to her originality and that great and unusual hairstyle.
