This 11 1/2 inch long fabulous early all original German toy, circa the mid 19th century, represents a crying baby in a baby bunting. The baby is papier mache with molded and painted facial features including tiny painted eyes and an open/closed mouth with a painted tongue. The baby wears the original lace bonnet and blanket/gown. The unhappy infant is encased in a wonderful all original papier mache shiny black lacquer baby bunting with metallic gold decorated trim ribbon. Under the lace is a button and, when it is pushed, the baby makes a crying noise and moves his head and arms. I absolutely love this doll toy for its near pristine condition and for the humorous and unfortunately somewhat realistic disgruntled baby expression.
