This 15 inch tall doll, circa the 1850s, has a 4 inch tall pink tinted china shoulder head with a covered wagon hairstyle. The head was created by the German firm of A.W. Fr. Kister. The body is most likely original to the doll with beautiful china lower arms and china legs with painted flat bottom shoes. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs except for some minor roughness on the tip of the nose. The body is sturdy with some old patching. One of the legs was broken sometime in the distant past and has been glued and taped. There would probably be a more attractive way to repair the leg but I will leave that to the new owner. I would much rather have these fabulous original china legs with one repair rather than later replacements. The lady wears antique white cotton underclothing that is sewn onto the body. She also wears a white cotton blouse and a cotton skirt in a wonderful early brown print. Finishing her costume, Miss Kister wears a brown straw hat.
