This 17 inch tall doll, circa the 1870s, has a bisque shoulder head manufactured by the German firm of Simon & Halbig. The 6 inch tall shoulder head has molded and painted hair and facial features. The doll also retains the beautiful original lower bisque arms and legs. The legs end in painted black flat bottom shoes. The cloth body is jointed at the shoulders, hips, and knees. The bisque head, arms, and legs are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The doll wears a wonderful silk two piece blue/green antique dress that I believe is probably original to the doll. The dress does have some wear but it is such a fabulous dress. The lady also wears antique white cotton underclothing. The Simon & Halbig Factory is known for beautiful dolls with great artistic painting and this doll certainly fits that description.
