This 19 inch tall doll, circa 1973, was created to illustrate the character of Becky Thatcher, Tom Sawyer's girlfriend in the Mark Twain classic novel of the same name. The doll has a porcelain shoulder head, lower arms and lower legs ending in black painted shoes. She has cotton cloth body jointed at the shoulders, hips, and knees. The doll has molded and painted facial features, hair, and bonnet. Becky wears her original red print cotton dress lace trimmed dress with white cotton lace and eyelet trimmed underclothing. The back of the shoulder plate is incised with the year 1973. She is in excellent unplayed with condition and is a good representation of the character from Twain's novel, "Tom Sawyer."
