This 8 ½ inch tall doll has a poured wax shoulder head, lower arms, and lower legs. The body is stuffed cotton. The doll has a closed mouth and blue glass eyes. The blonde human hair wig has the hair strands individually inserted into the wax head. The doll wears a sweet hand sewn costume including a dress of white dotted Swiss and white cotton underclothing. The outfit is completed with a ribbon trimmed straw bonnet. The doll is marked on the chest, "Wax Dolls//Betty Begale//Raytown, Mo." I believe the doll was probably created in the 1950s but this is only a guess on my part. She is definitely vintage and not newly created so might be a little newer or older than my estimation. In any case, she is just so precious and would fit into any doll collection as she is quite skillfully and artistically made. I couldn't resist her. Once I picked her up, I could not put her down!
