This 20 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, has an oil painted cloth face and upper torso. She has painted facial features and a mohair wig with a braid around her head. The lower half of the doll is made up of a long skirt covered over cardboard strips that are formed into a dome shape. The clothing appears to be original with a red twill cotton dress adorned with flowers and lace. The skirt of the dress does exhibit some age discoloration, fading, and a few small holes but is still quite lovely. This may have been considered a form of a tea cozy. Being a lover of cloth dolls with painted faces, I was attracted to this lady. She has been in my collection for several years.
