These simple but powerful earrings consist of brass dorje charms syspended from brass leverbacks. The overall length is 2 inches.
First of all, the word Vajra is Sanskrit for both thunderbolt and diamond. It is also known as Dorje in Tibetan, and that is the term used here vecause the charms came from Tibet. The word is used symbolically by the dharma tradition of Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism to represent the firmness of spirit.
The double dorje (the charm in these earrings) represents that which cannot be destroyed but which itself destroys all evil. The shape of the dorje symbolizes the two forms of truth, relative and absolute. It is joined together by a brass center sphere known as the sphere of reality.
Whether or not you embrace the philosophy represented by the dorje is immaterial. You may simply admire these earrings for their individual character and charm.
