With bright color on black and gold, this brooch is stunning. The black and gold background allows the brightly colored acrylic cabs and the one chaton to gleam. The square orange cab, deep red oval cab, and the citrine chaton are all embedded in a heavy gold material that actually makes the frames around the stones. I especially like the folded over brushed light gold toned wing that gives the brooch its Art Deco flair. There is also a large black acrylic faceted oval stone prong set at the top and a splash of turquoise leather off to one side. This is actually a round piece of leather framed in a silver toned frame and attached to the back. You can just see enough to pull your eye over to that side. It's a great addition to the color combination.
The brooch measures a bit over 3" X1 3/4". It can be worn on its side or straight up. The pin runs the length of it but it looks well standing up, too. I like the way it looks either way. It is in wonderful condition. The red stone may have had an AB coating on it but now is only partially there which looks like that was how it could have been made but I am not sure. Great piece!
