These stunning brightly colored Mexico Silver screw back earrings are made using man made harlequin glass opals. The colors remind me of butterfly wing jewelry with a similar vibrancy. The mark Mexico Silver, which can be found on the back of each earring, was used from the 1920s through the mid 1940s and had a greater silver content than sterling. Sterling is 925/1000 parts of silver so these have a bit more silver. The glass cabs are prong set with a rope design at the base of the frame. Around this are curlicues and silver beads in a nice pattern drawing attention th the center.
The earrings measure a bit over 3/4' high and 1/2" wide. These are sturdy and solidly made earrings and the screw backs work well. I didn't polish the silver but, if polished, these earrings will just gleam. The higher the silver content, the brighter the shine. These will be gorgeous polished but there are collector's who prefer the dark patina. If you'd like me to polish them before shipping, please ask and I'll be happy to do so.
