These English Ivy stylized heart shaped leaves, one nestled inside the other, are finished with a sterling silver "stem" that gracefully swirls over and across the tops of both leaves. The center leaf is beautifully shaped and looks realistic with the stem creating it's center. I love this design. The brooch is heavy and the workmanship is excellent.
Ysidro Garcia Pina was the force behind the Maricela shop which he opened in Taxco, Mexico in 1943 and named after his daughter. Collectors of Mexican silver jewelry know his signed pieces as Maricela Sterling which is his signature.
This brooch is pre -1949 before the eagle mark was added to the marks required on sterling silver in Mexico. His eagle mark was number 3.
The brooch measures 2" wide and 1 3/8" high. It is clearly signed HECHO EN MEXICO STERLING Maricela (in script) TASCO 925. It is a wonderful heirloom quality piece in excellent condition.
