Very handsomely carved from sterling silver and oxidized in black, the fighting cocks depicted on this tie bar are clearly ready to go. Cock fighting has been around for almost 3000 years and the symbol has many different meanings like courage, strength, and willing to fight to the death. Great gift for the sportsman who lives for competition.
This heavy tie bar is clearly signed with two hallmarks. The first one, inside a circle, is ROMERO 925 TAXCO and the second one, in a crown, is PEDRO TAXCO 925 STERLING. The Romero mark can be seen in The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks by Bille Hougart.
The tie bar clip works well and is nice and strong. It is in excellent condition.
