These vintage miniature hand fans of sterling silver were made by Shreve, Crump & Low, the oldest and finest jeweler whose Boston store opened for business in 1796.
Each fan measures 1 1/4" at the wide end and 7/8" high. Total height with the earring top is 1 1/4".
On each fan are stamped flowers, berries, branches and a butterfly. The overall look suggests the late 19th century Japanese Aesthetic Movement. The back is marked with "SC&L Co." and "Sterling".
The slim earring fronts have the appearance of pierced fittings but the back shows the clever sterling adjustable screw finding. Condition is excellent.
