This 1960s Modernist pendant was designed by Nils Thorsson for Royal Copenhagen and has a very organic, relief design on glazed porcelain.
The rounded oval plaque is 2 3/8" high (not including bail), 17/8" wide and about 3/16" thick. Height with bail is 2 3/4".
A matte gold concave circle in lower left has a tufted-look raised arc and also impressed triangles. Above is a rich turquoise blue shell form spiral. A smaller concave white circle with golden center is at right. The background free-form pattern is black with moss-like white spots and raised white dots.
The back has the blue Royal Copenhagen Denmark and Thorsson marks.
The bail is sterling with a gold finish. It is marked on the back with the monogram of Nils Thorsson, the AM mark of Anton Michelson (the retailer) the Royal Copenhagen hallmark, and 925S for sterling.
Included is a 36" long sterling silver snake chain with spring-ring clasp stamped 925; the chain is marked Made in Italy, 925, and FAS.
Condition is very fine.
