This reliquary or relic of Pope John XXIII (Joannes) has a gold-tone frame containing a blue reflective relief portrait of the now-canonized Saint on the front.
On the reverse is a small fragment of cloth on a red background. The pendant is 20mm or 13/16 in diameter and has a brass oval ring at the top. The front reads: Joannes XXIII, Pont *M A X".
The back has a raised "Ex Induments" with a small cross. I am not certain of the composition of the gold-plated frame. Overall condition is very fine.
The Pope, who was born in 1881 as Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, died June 3, 1963, in Rome. He was beatified September 3, 2000 and canonized April 27, 2014.
