These 1980’s iconic New Wave earrings have strong Memphis Group style (the Italian design and architecture collective formed in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass).
They are multicolored hard acrylic plastic –each piece is solid-core pigmented, these are not surface coatings. Height is 4”, and width of the wide end of the boomerang dangles is about 1 ¼”. The purple disk tops are 1” in diameter. The vibrant, super-energetic colors are rich lilac purple, bright red with applied black squiggles, turquoise, and bright yellow.
The boomerangs swing beneath the disks and the U-shaped bars pierce the boomerangs; swing on their own, too. These mini mobile sculptures fit pierced ears; the silver metal posts have butterfly clutches.
Surprisingly, the earrings are not marked as to maker. They are in great condition.
Whether you like an entire ensemble of geometric patterned, color-block fashions or just a fun accent piece, these fabulous conversation-starter earrings will get you noticed!
