These sterling silver dream catcher earrings are hand-made in the form of spider webs stretched across hoops from which hang eagle feather forms. At the center of each web is a turquoise nugget. (A little gem spider, perhaps?)
Each pierced earring is 1 5/16" high and 13/16" wide.
We have tested both the webs and the wires are they are sterling silver in purity. The earrings are in very fine condition.
The dream catcher is a special item made by the mothers and grandmothers of Native American children whom, in past years, would have been protected and cared for by the Spider Woman or Asibikaashi. When the territory she had to cover grew too large, the women of the nations would would create dream-catchers to weave magical webs for the children, using willow hoops and sinew, or cordage made from plants. These items, hung above beds, would filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter our mind. Once the sun rises, all bad dreams disappear.
