This vintage sterling silver triangular brooch has a hand-hammered surface both front and back and a Pre-Colombian style bird sits in the center front. Grazielli Laffi, though born in Italy, had a strong interest in ancient Peru arts and culture.
The concave design is 1 15/16" wide, 1 11/16" high and 3/16" deep. The bird is raised above the surface and applied patination contrasts with its outline.
The pin stem closes with a safety clasp. There is no signature--I imagine it would have been lost in the hammered finish--but this bird on a hammered base has been found with the Graziella Laffi signature. Total weight is just under 20 grams.
