This vintage or antique German flower brooch pin is made of sterling silver and set with glass paste stones in several colors. Some may call the style Art Deco because of when it was made but this type of basket design was popular in the early 19th century and referred to giardinetti (Italian for little garden).
The basket is 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/16" high. The upper and lower edges of the basket has a twisted wire appearance. The stone colors are bright emerald green, vivid yellow topaz, medium pink, and ruby red.
The stones are flush-set and held with beads or tiny pieces of silver pushed over their edges. All the stones are present though a few are darker.
The pin stem has a lever clasp which you push down to secure it. "Germany" and "Sterling" (upside down) are stamped on the lower rim of the basket. Condition is very fine.
