This Einar Dragsted sterling silver Modernist flower branch brooch is finished in lavender purple guilloche' enamel with a gilt backing.
The design is 2 1/4" high and 1 3/8" wide with the flowers oriented vertically. At the bottom of each teardrop is a gilt dome and two curved stems complete the composition. The enamel is a mid-range lilac tone, quite unusual in this particular design.
The pin stem has a safety clasp. "E. Dragsted Sterling Denmark" is stamped on the back. Condition is very fine.
Einar Roed Dragsted (1887-1967) set up his own workshop in 1923. His work is undeniably Scandinavian Modern. It is interesting to note that brooches very similar or identical to this can be found marked "Jemax" which is a Danish company that started operation after Dragsted's studio. Perhaps there was a level of cooperation between the two.
