These luscious hand-beaded earrings by Eugene are wired with garnet red glass seed beads, larger faceted beads and big faceted oval beads all in dark garnet red with flowers holding crystal rhinestone centers on gilt brass leafy stems.
Each earring is 1 1/2" high, 1 1/4" wide, and 1/2" thick. The gilt brass filigree back plates are shield shape with slightly pinched sides and have tiny circles stamped on the edges. On one side of each earring are four rows of the small faceted beads with one mid-size round faceted bead for accent. On the other side is the leafy spray overlaid with five beaded flowers and one rhinestone at the base--all the rhinestones are prong-set. At the top are two large faceted oval beads.
All the wiring is intact and tight. The backs are neatly finished with a separate filigree plaque supporting the ear clip. Underneath one is the oval "Eugene" signature cartouche. There is some wear to the gold plating on the back, the front has an even Russian gold tone (like that found on Miriam Haskell jewelry which was a contemporary line to that of Eugene, who, it was reported, did work for Miriam Haskell).
These are a generous size with rich color--sure to attract the eye of anyone who appreciates fine vintage costume jewelry.
