This oversized ART brooch has the look of a Victorian pocket watch set in a wide border of rectangular art-glass stones and cross-shaped spokes. The simulated watch face is mother-of-pearl Lucite and the brooch is set with simulated white pearls and aurora-borealis chaton rhinestones.

The brooch is 2 3/4" in diameter and about 3/8" thick. The carnelian and green chalcedony color octagonal glass pieces have diagonal bands of raised silver-luster dots resembling marcasites. Each cross has a small pearl at the center and two larger pearls at the base hugging a sparkling AB rhinestone.

The antiqued gold finish add a richness to the piece and the embossed details of the "watch case" around the face suggest an older timepiece.

The brooch has the raised "ART" mark with copyright. This was a trade-mark of the Mode-Art company started by Arthur Pepper around 1950 (which closed 1980), many people now refer to ART jewelry as "Arthur Pepper". My belief is that it's a term that has made in easier when doing online searches to weed-out Art Deco, Art Nouveau and other "Art" terms when searching for ART pieces.

The pin has a safety clasp. With the addition of a matching chain you could wear this large and luscious brooch as a pendant. Condition is very fine with no missing embellishments or damage.
