This antique Victorian 14K yellow gold hinged bangle bracelet was hand-crafted and set with Persian turquoise ball beads and a white seed pearl.
The bangle is 11/16” high at the front center and center back is 3mm. The inner circumference is 6 ½”.
The front ornament is a stacked or tiered design which tapers at the ends. Raised gold circles, double bars resembling coiled wire, and four ivy leaves adorn the horizontal elements. In Victorian language of plants, ivy symbolized fidelity, wedded love, affection and friendship.
The turquoise balls are bright and well matched in color. All these and the pearl are prong-set. The bangle was hand-finished as you can see in slight variances of some of the small details. The inner round open frame around the pearl has a gap at the top and a slight dip at the 3 o’clock position. This was a casting artifact. The outer, rope-twist circle is completely closed.
The box clasp has a sleek tongue with white/silver top and 14K gold underside. This was probably done as the tension placed on it could be damaging to an all-gold tongue. “SB 14K” is stamped on the inside. The safety chain is a newer, gold-filled replacement.
Overall condition is very fine with no damage. The bracelet weighs approximately 15.8 grams.
